The last decade the Russian economic authorities have been trying to achieve two fundamental and independent goals – macroeconomic stabilization and economic restructuring. After the financial crisis of 1998 and because of the high oil prices which world markets had during the both Putin’s terms Russia had got excellent opportunities to realize the main reforms in economics. But instead of these the government spent budget surplus we had the last seven or eight years on current expenses, on support of different groups of the population and on support of some ineffective brunches of the national industry.

By experts estimate the necessary reforms have not been finished. And now Russia is face to face with new challenge – world financial and economic crisis.

It remained only to wait a new favorable economic situation for new attempt to carry out reforms.

Alexander Dvorkovich (The Russian President’s assistant) recently said that the state would “draw a conclusion” to supply or not to supply finances to the corporations which provide big bonuses to their top-managers.

After this announcement the most of corporations made statements that they would reduce the top managers’ bonuses up to zero.

But specialists and experts in Russia are assured that the companies will find out the ways to provide the managers’ bonuses by the other way (unofficially).

Last month the free trade and free market supporter Dmitry Medvedev attacked “selfish” banks. Obviously it was a result of the corporation’s lobby. I think it was a movement to defend struggling producers from lenders that resist rescheduling payments.

President Dmitry Medvedev said it was not a time for “corporate selfishness” and also: “We can’t sacrifice the future of entire enterprises and the employment of many thousands of workers to satisfy the ambitions of individual lending institutions… It’s time to end corporate selfishness”.

So the Russian Federation demonstrates a state regulation of economics as other countries all over the world during the financial and economic crisis.
