According to the Russian laws (the Civil code) the Central bank of the Russian Federation can establish a restriction on payment in cash between companies, between companies and entrepreneurs, and between entrepreneurs. This restriction may be established on the amount of payment.

Now this restriction is 100.000 rubles in cash in a one contract. But for the amount of cashless settlement the Russian authorities don’t have any restrictions.

I think it sounds like “yo” or something very close to this. But the presence of this letter doesn’t mean that it is in use. The most of people even they write for newspapers and magazines don’t use it. They use letter “e” instead of this specific one.

Some readers can think that it is a linguistic question or something of this sort and it’s not connected with the law and legal matter. But the practice shows that these issues are very connected.

A family from Kaliningrad cannot receive a special payment from the government fund which it pays when a second child in a family has been born. The reason for this denial is the difference between surnames in mother and children’s documents. The mother’s documents have the rare letter which I’ve mentioned in the surname. But children’s documents have instead of it letter “e”.

Government bodies recommend family to change their documents, but it’s very difficult in Russia because of long ranges and bureaucracy procedures…
